Do It Yourself Inspiration
Cosmic Crisp® Apple Basket Bouquet
A fun craft for the kids, these sweet apple “baskets” are filled with fragrant spring flowers to delight lucky recipients.
Supplies
- Cosmic Crisp® apples
- Sharp knife
- Melon baller
- 2 yards of thin gingham ribbon (between ½” and 1” wide)
- Short, flat-headed straight pins (about 1” long)
- Spring flowers, such as tulips, hyacinths and ranunculus
- Scissors
Directions
- Using a sharp knife, cut off the top inch of each Cosmic Crisp®.
- Using the melon baller, hollow out the apples, leaving the walls at least ½” thick.
- Wrap the ribbon around the bottom and up the sides of the apples, leaving about 16” of length on either end so that it’s long enough to tie a bow. Secure the ribbon by inserting the straight pins into the sides of the apples.
- Tie the ribbon in a simple bow to make the basket handle. Adjust the length as needed.
- Trim flowers to fit inside and fill the apples. Add water for the flowers before decorating.
Cosmic Crisp® Apple Blossom Centerpiece

Supplies
- Cosmic Crisp® apples
- Sharp paring knife
- Melon baller
- Small yellow flower such as a jonquil or daffodil
Directions
- Using a sharp knife, cut off the top of a Cosmic Crisp®.
- Using the melon baller, hollow out the Cosmic Crisp®, leaving the walls at least ½” thick.
- Use the melon baller as a guide to cut the semi-circles around the top edge of the Cosmic Crisp®. Finish cutting and refining the edge with the knife.
- Place a jonquil or daffodil bloom inside the Cosmic Crisp® with some water to make the center of the Cosmic Blossom Cup.
Peel-and-Stick Decorated Apples

Supplies
- Cosmic Crisp® apples
- ½” or ¾” round dot stickers in various colors
- ¼” or 3/8” paper tape in various colors
Directions
- Place dot stickers all over the Cosmic Crisp® apples as desired.
- Tape lines to make stripes around the apples as desired. Overlap lines in a grid or make patterns using different widths of tape.
No-Sew Gingham Table Runner
Gingham is popping up everywhere this Spring! This easy runner brings a vibrant pop of color to the table.
Supplies
- 2-3 yards of gingham fabric, depending on the size of your table
- 4-6 yards of white ric rac trim, depending on the size of your table
- Tacky glue (or any fabric glue)
- Fabric shears
- Measuring tape
- Iron
Directions
- Measure the length of your table and add about 18” more so the runner hangs over both edges. Mark the width 16” or as wide as you like.
- Add a 1” border all the way around the rectangle for seam allowance. Cut out your fabric.
- Fold the 1” border over on all four sides of the rectangle, and iron it to crease and hold in place. Use the lines in the gingham as a guide to help keep the edges straight.
- To make neatly mitered corners, first, unfold the 1” border and then fold the point of each corner toward the center of the fabric so that two inches are folded over. Refold the straight edges back over so the diagonal folds of each side meet in the corner. Iron to crease in place.
- Use the glue to adhere the ric rac trim over the cut edge of the fabric, hiding the raw edge and adhering the seam in place.
