Cosmic Pretzel Bite Sliders with Sausage, Apple, Gouda, and Honey Mustard


  • 24 pretzel bites, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 14 oz. Kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 Cosmic Crisp apple, cut into 24 slices and then halved
  • 12 slices Gouda cheese (8 oz. package), cut into 48 1-1/4-inch squares
  • Honey Mustard (recipe follows or use prepared)
  • 24 toothpicks or skewers

For the Honey Mustard:

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • Dash of hot sauce


  1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage slices and sauté until lightly browned.
  3. Assemble the sliders: Spread honey mustard on each pretzel bite half. Layer the bottom half of each pretzel bite with a slice of Gouda cheese, half a slice of Cosmic Crisp apple, a sausage round, another slice of Gouda cheese, and half a slice of Cosmic Crisp apple. Top with the other half of the pretzel bite.
  4. Skewer each slider with a toothpick or appetizer pick. Repeat for the remaining sliders.
  5. Place the skewered sliders upright in an ovenproof glass casserole dish. It’s okay if they are packed closely together.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and warm in the oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Serve the sliders warm.
  8. Prepare the Honey Mustard by whisking all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
